The first Explained PH Journalism Camp (JournCamp) took place on February 18-21, 2022, driven by our advocacy and mission to enhance the skills of campus journalists and school paper advisers. The goal was to equip them with essential competencies across various areas of journalism. The pioneering camp featured six lectures: Headline Writing, News Writing, Opinion Writing, Sports Writing, Feature Writing, and Science and Technology Writing.
The second JournCamp followed on November 25-26, 2023, expanding the program with additional lectures on Radio Broadcasting and Scriptwriting, Online Publishing, Science and Technology Writing, and Photojournalism.
Now entering its third year, the Explained PH Journalism Camp 2024 is better than ever! This year’s event, happening on November 23-24, 2024, highlights our largest lineup yet with 15 lectures covering all campus journalism events. The roster of speakers features a combination of National Schools Press Conference (NSPC) winners and seasoned industry veterans, including Jacque Manabat, who will lead a session on Mobile Journalism, and Cartoonist Zach, who will discuss Visual Storytelling in Political Critique.
